Oil and Gas Case Study
We were approached by a customer to produce a range of components for inspection pigs which are used perform various maintenance operations on a pipeline – particularly in the oil and gas industry.
Once we had received the original designs, we worked closely with the customer to ensure that the component was modified in order to meet requirements. We were asked for advice on which material to use as well as how to reduce costs.
Original components were machined from “solid blocks” where possible, and rapid prototypes procured where we could not to prove designs.
Tooling was then manufactured.
Initial ISIR’s were undertaken to determine dimensions of the parts. Tooling was then modified as required to ensure tolerances were met leading to final approval and signing off of components.
The parts for this specific inspection pig are now in full production.
